Sinceramente, ahorra dinero y vete a otro lado.
Overrated. Appetizers were great. Had 2. All 4 entrees were FAIR at best. So bad that it killed our interest in dessert, which we wanted. Ate other meals that were better locally.
Overall a very disappointing experience. We got the degustación tasting menu but the 3 main dishes (fish, pork belly and lamb) were all over cooked and the quality was poor. The wait staff were pleasant and the restaurant itself looks nice, but everything else was underwhelming.
It’s very good, not mind blowing, and for the price I’d say it’s worth going to at least once for the experience. Cost ~$100USD for 7 course tasting + wine pairing. I’d expect to pay $200+ for the same quality in America
We were one of the earliest reservations of the night and were denied to be sat in a well lit area or a few other empty tables. My wife and I could not help but notice the table we wanted sat empty pretty much the entire time we were there. Left a really bad taste in our mouths.
The food was good for the price point. Some surprises and delights but nothing I would say wowed. Two people for around $90USD is a fantastic deal that can be enjoyed daily if you were not forced to sit in a dark corner next to the noisy kitchen. Cannot help but felt being placed there due to us being Asian, since a complete stranger who was also Asian (not a lot of Asians here) were sat next to us as well.
Don't get the seven leches, it was a terrible way to end the meal.
I definitely noticed a trend in this restaurant that if you don't look the part they will treat you like second class citizens. Get dressed up and look like you have money and you will be treated as such.
To the restaurant, take it from someone who's collected near triple digit Michelin stars, you probably need to stop doing this type of obvious perceived class discrimination if you ever want a star. And by looking at the other reviews, I'm not the first and probably will not be the last to call you out on this. The hostess you hire needs much better diversity and bias training.
Good place but over priced for what it is. The fish with noodle and broth was great. The broth was so light and flavorful. The fish had nice texture and noodles were perfectly cooked. But the other dishes and drinks were lackluster and more style over substance. For example, the cocktail had a smoke when presented but that doesn’t add any flavor or smell and the drink was just a normal drink. For the elevated price (1 appetizer+ 1 entree+ 1 drink=150k) a little extra is expected. The portion is rather small so you def need an appetizer as well.
Delicious food, but the overall experience does not live up to the hype. We went for lunch and were looking forward to our tasting menu. We asked if it was possible to sit on the patio. This request was met with lots of hesitation, false starts, confirming and re-confirming, asking us to wait awkwardly in various spots in the restaurant before finally just putting us at one of several open balcony tables. Then someone started messing around with the music, changing it from loud to deafening before one of the customers intervened. The cocktails were good, and we enjoyed the food quite a bit. However, the tasting menu was not a good value compared to a la carte, and not every course was a hit. Add to that some aloof treatment from the staff, and you’ve got a pretty OK fancy restaurant…
Too expansive for what it is. The restaurant is nice and fancy, and the service is good. But the food is not very good or average. It’s ok, but very expansive for what it is. And especially: me and my girlfriend were sick after the restaurant with digestion problem. I think it doesn’t worth its reputation.
Came here last night and tried out multiple cocktails and appetizers for dinner. We tried out the tiki andino (absolut, viche, Peruvian pisco, pear & pineapple, falernum, angostura bitters, and lime), the gin basil (beafeater gin, basil syrup, and house limoncello), ceviche (Pacific coast fish, meyer lemon, fermented coconut tiger's milk, & yuca crisps), octopus (hibiscus, yellow Andean potato, and caribbean creme fraiche), the tacos al pastor (pig's head carnitas, grilled pinaepple salsa, pickled onion, native corn, & cassava tortillas), and the creme brulee.
Everything was made perfectly to order, decent portion, high quality, and the service was great! Highly recommend trying out the tacos, ceviche, gin basil, and the tiki andino! Carmen is a great restaurant and I will definitely be returning here soon.
I had experienced the delight of the Cartagena location and I am equally pleased I was able to eat at the Medellin location as well. The staff, atmosphere and food were such a delight. I'm a tad ambivalent about the curtain as a door bathroom experience.but it's a vibe.
Not sure what the fuss is about, the only thing I can think was nice was the dessert. I had requested a table and was told by the host that it was full and that if I wanted to sit at the bar I could, but I saw that there were empty tables for the whole 1.5-2 hours I was there and wasn't ignored my request to move to a proper table, hence the ugly pictures. The decor is nice but the food was just regular. It has a lot of seafood, so beware if you don't like it.
The food is okay but way too expensive for what you get. They tried to charge us for an extra drink and then on top of that they charged us for a drink they took away from us because it was disgusting. I wouldn’t eat there again even though the atmosphere was nice and the server was nice other than the extra charge.
Went there last night to celebrate my birthday the food was not as good as we spect, we order ravioli that didn't have flavor we ate 1 and the waiters didn't ask us if there was something wrong about it. The services could be better. I don't thing I will go back
My pictures are rough but it's always such a delight here! The service is always great, you feel really taken care of. Our waiter is bilingual which was nice. The food was incredible. I hope to try their other restaurants soon, I've only heard really good things about them. Also, I think it's really sweet that Carmen goes around to the tables to see how everyone is doing. I would easily recommend.
We went here to celebrate a birthday after hearing great things about this restaurant. We left very disappointed. The service was good, but the ambiance was very noisy; hard to have a conversation. The food is rightly priced for a high end restaurant. The options are interesting and have nice presentation, but lacks in quality and flavor. On top of the underwhelming food experience, they did nothing to celebrate the birthday. This is apparently one of the top 2 restaurants in Medellin. I would not rank it in the top 20. I would recommend not visiting this restaurant.

Definitely makes the list of the best restaurants I've been. I don't think you can go wrong with Picking anything off the menu. The mix of flavors. They also have a great selection of wines And delicious cocktails. It does get busy so reserve a table Ahead of time
I have had the pleasure of experiencing Carmen more than once and it has never dissapointed. The atmosphere, decor and overall design of the place is lovely. That paired with amazing combinations of flavors and service that matches the food's quality make Carmen a great culinary experience and absolutely worth enjoying in Medellín, whether you're a local or a visitor! Both Mauricio and Jefferson have provided OUTSTANDING service and knowledge of the plates, wines and pairings making the experience even more enjoyable. I will absolutely be returning!
This has been my favorite restaurant in Medellin since I first started visiting Colombia in 2014. Which is actually not saying much, since Medellin’s food scene is not great. So with that in mind, it’s actually my favorite restaurant in all of Colombia. And I’ve traveled most of the country. The food is local, sustainable, healthy, and delicious. It’s truly a five star experience. And the owners are incredible people. We just tried out their sushi experience for the first time and it was out of this world.
One of the best restaurants I've visited. The food was amazing and the cocktails were equally great. The sommelier and staff were very friendly and have the best service. The sommelier crafted a special cocktail too! Overall, loved the experience. I would totally go back again and again.
We didnt have the tasting menu, but we did ordered the main recommendations, tacos was excellent. However our ribs steak was ok. I do have high expectations but overall good. Excellent service.
Great place for a special meal. Have the octopus and peanut thing for starter. Cool decor, clearly put a lot of effort into the design. Attentive staff. Quite casual so don't worry about wearing tails and top hat, jeans and a long sleeved tee should suffice
Aunque reserves no te dan buena mesa.
Delicious meals and friendly service, except for the hostesse who was very unfriendly. After complaining about our table twice (we sat in the basement area next to the kitchen), we finally got a better table outdoors. Not sure why it was necessary to start the evening with a bad experience- there were enough tables available outdoors.
Recomendado!
Group of 6 all had tasting menu with wine pairing. Food was inventive, fresh and tasty. The wine pairing was very generous and we had a new, fresh glass with every course. Pace of the meal was nice and service was fantastic. Beautiful garden seating with spot on lighting as well. 10/10 would recommend.
My favorite restaurant in Medellín with an international and changing menu. Food and service are of very good quality. You also get small greetings from the kitchen (tiny dishes). For Colombia it’s more pricey but considering what you get and comparing to US/Europe it’s not expensive. On the weekend you should reserve or just take a seat at the bar which is also fun.
