Tengo que decir que después de bastantes vacaciones y excursiones en mi vida, este fue sin duda el viaje más auténtico, divertido y familiar que he hecho. Gracias de nuevo por esta posibilidad.

Gran excursión de un día a Minca. El guía, Gustavo, estaba muy bien informado y era divertido. ¡Aprendimos mucho y al mismo tiempo hicimos un gran ejercicio!

Mi experiencia con Expotur fue excelente de principio a fin. El proceso de reserva fue sencillo y el personal respondió a cualquier pregunta que tuviera. La caminata de 4 días fue ciertamente dura, pero el guía, traductor, ayudante y chef (Ariel, Yayo, Jhon y Fernando) hicieron todo lo posible para que todos estuvieran lo más cómodos posible. Un elemento de la lista de cosas por hacer verdaderamente inolvidable y que recomendaría encarecidamente Expotur.

Desde el primer contacto de WhatsApp hasta el final del recorrido todo estuvo bien organizado y ejecutado.

Tuve el placer de hacer el tour de 4 días por la ciudad perdida con nuestro guía Levi, el traductor Carlos y el cocinero Ernesto. Todos ellos hicieron un trabajo increíble e hicieron todo lo posible para que esta fuera una experiencia inolvidable y agradable.

Si te gusta una aventura fuera de la zona de confort, te recomiendo este tour.

Buena agencia de viajes. Tatiana, la guía, nos guió suavemente por la ruta hasta la Ciudad Perdida, con la ayuda de Edwar. María fue nuestra traductora y también es muy amable y una interlocutora interesante. Pero dudo que Tatiana la necesite más, porque ella misma hizo un muy buen trabajo en inglés. Nuestro cocinero Osneider se encargó de que tuviéramos mucha buena comida en el momento exacto, así teníamos nuevas energías para el camino. A Tatiana y María les podíamos preguntar cualquier cosa y siempre nos ayudaron. ¡Así que fue una muy buena experiencia!

Ciudad perdida: un reto más mental que físico! Ciudad perdida no sólo es una caminata de 4 dias, ciudad perdida es una vivencia que deja huella, que te marca. Allí descubres que eres mucho más fuerte de lo que pensabas, que con muy poco se puede vivir, pero que fortuna la mía de todos los privilegios con los que cuento cada día y muchas veces no soy consciente. Empezé mi ruta con una mochila muy pequeñita pero llego a casa con una mochila bien cargada de energía, positividad, confianza en mi misma, calma ante la adversidad y la alegría de haber conocido a gente que suma y aporta, es aquí donde subrayo y remarco a mi guía Gabriel. Emprendí esta caminata con la gran duda de si podría llegar a la meta, dado que mi técnica en trekking de montaña es muy bajita a lo que tenía que sumar mi alergia al látex y frutas tropicales y el dolor de barriga que me vinó unos días antes, pero tuve la gran suerte de que mi grupo fuera liderado por el referido guía, para mi el mejor. Pocas horas me sobraron para ver la bondad, nobleza, humildad y empatía que había en él. Nunca me faltó una mano a la que cogerme cuando el camino se complicó, siempre atento a mi comida y a que todo el grupo estuviera bien, amenizando las cenas con experiencias vividas; demostró amor y profesionalidad a su trabajo. Enhorabuena y gracias Don Grabiel.

We had an absolutely epic time trekking to the Lost City with Expotur! An experience I will never forget - thank you for everything!

Our group was made up of 13 lovely people (all ages and nationalities) and 4 amazing guides - huge thank you to
Camacho, Pilar, Jaider and Fernando for looking after us so well. The amount of information we received, the captivating story telling, the camaraderie and the delicious and huge portions of food! We were 1 vegan and 1 vegetarian and they catered to it without batting an eye.

Quite a few people from different companies got sick on the trek so
I would recommend buying bottled water / using lots of hand sanitiser etc.to take maximum precautions, but our guides also handled this situation professionally, respectfully and with a lot of care.

Best Tour so far, especially for our Guide and Translator (Ariel, Samuel) and the whole team! 10/10 recommendation.

El equipo que tuvimos de guía (Camacho y Haider), traductora (Pilar) y cocinero (Fernando) hicieron de esta experiencia una de las mejores de nuestro viaje por Sudamérica. No sólo disfrutamos de la belleza del paisaje, sino que aprendimos muchisimo, nos reímos e hicimos nuevas amistades. Además, la comida vegana superó con creces mis expectativas! Las comidas para veganos son muy elaboradas y no nos faltó de nada. 5 estrellas! (y no doy 6 porque no se puede!)

Highly recommend the Expotur experience. From the moment we arrived at the office, they made everything so easy. Our tour guides were Cesar Jnr, John, Luis (chef) and pillar (translator). The 4 days are tough but the guides make it as enjoyable as can be. Food is excellent - you won’t go hungry! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are all great. The beds and wash facilities are as good as can be for sleeping in a forest. Beds include mosquito nets. The Expotur lads are very encouraging and enthusiastic. Very funny and lots of laughs along the way which help. If you’re a first time bagpacker and not an experienced trail walker (like myself), these guys will be the group for you. Experience of a lifetime and new friends made along the way. 5 stars

Wonderful tour and great tour guides. The only thing letting it down was that I'd like to see more from Expotur on looking after the mules and horses they use to transport food and drink. Sadly whilst on the trek the experience was hugely tainted by seeing the constant stream of malnourished and poorly treated mules being forced to hike with very heavy equipment, tied an uncomfortable close distance to eachother that the poor mules could barely make their footing. They were being whipped by the leaders and never once did I see them be given rest or water and shade. And in the rare occasion this did happen i saw then chainrd up outside with a rope too short for them to bend down and left outside in torrential rain. Lots of the mules had open sores from the saddles. I think if you expect tourists to keep using this route, investment needs to be made to look after animals wellbeing. As people using the mules to provide food and build shelter this is their responsibility. Full stop.

We had the most amazing 4 days on La Ciudad Perdida Trek. Our guides Dennis and Brayan, translator Maria and cook Jesus were all brilliant, very approachable, fun and helped to create a memorable experience. Expotur in general were very organised, responded promptly to messages and emails and also were able to locate and return a phone I had left at the last camp. Thank you!

This trek was so amazing! Was difficult but very well broken up so it was doable. Would highly recommend for some spectacular views and history about the native tribes living there. There was snacks and renunciation juices after tough sections and a solid amount of breaks to keep you from burning out.

Très belle expérience en compagnie de Cesar notre guide qui nous a donné des explications intéressantes sur l’histoire de la Cuidad Perdida et de Moises, le traducteur très sympathique et attentionné. Le cuisinier Cole a tenu compte de mon régime alimentaire sans gluten ce qui était appréciable.
Le seul problème que nous avons rencontré est le manque de place et de lits au camp 2 suite à un glissement de terrain qui a emporté le camp
Paraiso. Le confort était donc très spartiate!

Our guides Dennis & Abraham were amazing! They were great at evaluating everybody's needs and pacing the group, had a lot of knowledge and answered all the questions we had. They were also super flexible and adjusted to accommodate any requests from the group. The tour was really well organised, food was great and the lodgings were comfortable. Highly recommend.

After reading all the reviews and hearing of others experience, this trip really does live up to the hype and much more! The scenery is breathtaking, especially at the lost city and considering the remote location of the camps, the food is very good. A friend and i did the Ciudad Pérdida tour with Expotur, and they did a great job. It is a legitimately challenging hike, but the overall trail and lodging conditions, although basic, are better than I expected based on older reviews. We did get a bed and a shower every day on the trail, as well as the opportunity to swim in the very refreshing river. The guide team, Cesar Jr, Abraham, and Albiero did an excellent job, with plenty of stops for good snacks and water, and excellent food at each meal. Overall, I highly recommend this operator for this tour.

La experiencia merece mucho la pena, hay que ir con la mente abierta para caminar, sudar, aguantar lluvias o sol abrasador, dormir en literas o hamacas, picaduras de mosquitos, pero sin duda lo recomendaría al 100%. Nuestra guía fue Iderle, nuestro traductor Isidro, nuestro ayudante Ángel y nuestra cocinera Luz, todos hicieron un grandísimo trabajo.

Cosas a mejorar en mi humilde opinión sería quizás organizar mejor los grupos acorde a la edad (en mi grupo estábamos gente desde los 22 hasta los 68 años) o acorde a las condiciones para caminar de cada uno y también quizás organizar un grupo de castellano y otro de inglés para poder hacer más piña en el grupo y no "retrasar con las dobles informaciones por la traducción". También deberían estar más pendientes de proporcionar papel higiénico continuamente en los baños de los campamentos. Asimismo, el primer día se queda a las 8: 30am en la oficina y hasta las 11: 30 o así no salimos de allí, ese tiempo perdido podría estar mejor gestionado. Finalmente un par de actividades posterior a la cena harían la experiencia completa al 100%, quizás algún juego para conocerse entre el grupo o entre el resto de los grupos para quien desee, ya que se suele cenar sobre las 19: 00 y hasta las 21: 00 no se apagan las luces del campamento así que es difícil igualmente dormirse.

De todas maneras repito, recomendaría la experiencia al 100%, las vistas son increíbles y es un momento de desconexión brutal, me llevo un precioso recuerdo.

Our Ciudad Perdida trek was outstanding in every respect! The whole hike went without a hitch. Our guides, Jhoan, Abraham and Nelson combined competence with flexibility and good cheer. They totally hit it just right for us! They shared interesting information about the sites while simultaneously adjusting activity levels as needed for each individual in our group. The entire experience was fabulous, from learning about other cultures and vegetation to the accommodations and the quality and quantity of food (the cook Freddy rules!). Our trip was beyond our expectations. I can highly recommend this trip with Expotur - we had an adventure of a lifetime!)

Absolutely first class outfit, highly professional and very friendly.

Booking and arranging the tour is easy, with quick email responses in English and lots of useful detail on the key kit to bring. The pick-up, drop-off service from the company's offices to your accommodation is also very welcome for newcomers in the somewhat disorienting city of Santa Marta.

The Expotur team (Sixto, Laura, Pecho, Ledys) assigned to our 16-person group were excellent, tirelessly supporting us over the 4 days trek. They made sure the group got between camps in good shape, leaving no one behind while allowing the faster hikers to push themselves too. They were clearly knowledgeable about the local area and people. The provision of refreshments was relentless and kept everyone going.

And the meals! Far superior to the basic rations we were expecting in the jungle. A different (usually locally inspired) dish turned up three times a day, with our cook powering ahead down the trail to make sure it was ready for our arrival.

The hike is tough, humid and often steep - but doable for fit and seasoned hikers with the right kit. The rewarding sights of the jungle and the lost city itself are well worth it. And going with these guys definitely ups the chances of you getting there in one piece and in good spirits!

Sin duda una experiencia increíble! Recomendaría ir en la época de no lluvias pues hay que tener en cuenta que vas a sudar mucho y por mucho que cuelgues la ropa al día siguiente va a estar húmeda, al igual que el bikini. Además la zona se embarra fácilmente y es posible que sufras alguna caída.
Eché en falta algún juego para conocer al resto de grupos después de cenar ya que considero que desde la cena (6 p.m) hasta la hora de irse a dormir (9 p.m) hay tiempo de sobra y haría el viaje aún más divertido.
Nuestro grupo fue genial, un ambiente buenísimo y un equipo formado por Iderle (guía), Isidro (traductor), Ángel (auxiliar) y Luz (cocinera) también excelente.
Desde mi punto de vista quizás estaría bien hacer los grupos en base al ritmo, edad o idioma. Asimismo, el primer día se pierde mucho tiempo antes de iniciar la ruta completando los datos y pagos de la gente; estaría bien asegurar que eso se cumple el día previo para aligerar el asunto.
Pese a todas las recomendaciones, que no dejan de ser más que pura opinión personal, diría que Expotour es una buena elección para visitar Ciudad Perdida, ruta indispensable si viajas a Colombia con ganas de andar, ver naturaleza, conocer gente y sin inconvenientes para ensuciarte!

Je recommande Expotur pour le trek de 4jours pour la Ciudad Perdida. L'organisation était super et le professionnalisme des guides et traducteurs étaient incroyable.
Notre guide Diego a été très bienveillant et nous a expliqué clairement et avec beaucoup d'intérêt l'histoire du lieu et de sa population.
Notre traducteur Heberth à été très efficace et nous avons apprécié son humour.
Nous avons très bien mangé sur les camps grâce au chef Fernando. Les lits étaient très confortable, je m'attendais à beaucoup moins de confort et en ai été agréablement surprise.
Allez y les yeux fermés!

We booked the Ciudad Perdida Trek with Expotours since it was highly recommended online.
Our group had a lot of young people and we had a great time.
Long story short: In total it was okay but I would not book with them again.

Here is why:
1) They or at least our group did not have an indigenous guide.
2) No pictures/videos of Ciudad Perdida at Camp 3. Every other group/tour had a presentation about the discovery of Ciudad perdida the evening before visiting it. I asked for it 2x but we did not have such a presentation. This was really disappointing.
3) Same food everyday. Lunch and Dinner always were the same. I got very food jealous because the dishes of other groups just looked way nicer. For example they had pasta whereas for us it was always rice, patacones and meat/soy "meat".

Nevertheless I would like to give some positive feedback as well:
- Booking and payment was really easy, they answered all our questions.
- we could store our luggage in their office during our trip.
- they will drop you off after the tour at Tayrona and bring your luggage as well if you wish so.
- a translator from Spanish to English is provided.

Maybe consinder this before booking with them.

It was a great experience from the start to the end. Camacho (guide) has deep insights into the indigenous community and shared them with us in various interesting stories. He answered all questions (even the „stupid“ ones).
The lost city is a beautiful place. However, to me the true highlight is the hike to the city.

Incredible experience! We would like to give a very special thanks to our tour guide, Daniel, who played a HUGE part in making this such great trekking experience. He kept a very organized gameplan and schedule that allowed us to make the most of the trip, while avoiding the crowds as much as possible. He also shared a ton of history with us that helped us learn and contextualize the cultural of the tribes that inhabit the Sierra Nevada.

The food and accommodations at the camps were much better than we expected. For lunch and dinners each meal was different from the last (I.e. Chicken, fish, beef, pasta, vegetarian options, etc.). Along the hike, they provide fruit (watermelon, oranges, pineapple) to help you refresh.

As others have stated, there are also plenty of vendor stops along the hike where you can buy bottled water, soda, gatorade, beer, etc.

I recommend packing light.it's hot/humid and the uphills are tough so you don't want extra weight. If you get too tired, there are options to pay to have a motorbike or mule carry your gear, depending on where you are on the trail.

Las oficinas de la compañía son buenas, hay baños y una sala de espera, es decir, lo típico de una oficina de turismo. Pero el verdadero atractivo de la empresa está en sus planes, muy completos, divertidos, el servicio de transporte es suficientemente bueno, en definitiva, una gran empresa de turismo.

This is best tour company for ciudad perdida as ratings show. There is always an English translator that other companies do not always have. I took off a star because the company should know not to make new paths. Hopefully a road never arrives to ciudad perdida as that would be the ultimate destruction of the environment but the trail erosion is horrendous. Pictures show going off the trail. The mud is in the DRY season 3 days after 1 hour of rain.
Bring trail running shoes as a minimum. My group was slipping everywhere in tennis shoes. The office folks should advise better on foot wear. Look up packing list online.

Puedo decir que aunque haya llegado con mi rodilla muy mal, la experiencia de sentir, vivir y ver lo que hay allí es increíble, es pesado el senderismo si no tienes un ritmo básico de deporte posiblemente te rindas, me gustó la travesía, sin embargo sentí que al guía le faltó explicarnos muchas cosas de teyuna, sólo si preguntábamos respondía, más no por iniciativa propia lo hacía. Faltó información más afondo sobre qué llevar en el equipaje, pero de resto es increíble.

I had trained hard for six months, then I willed myself to adapt to new situations during the four day backpacking trek to the Lost City.

My experience with Expotur for the 4D Ciudad Perdida trek was nothing short of spectacular. The professionalism and eagerness with which their team answered my questions and helped prepare me for the trek was unrivaled. The trek itself was amazing and the guides they provided (Comacho & Gustavo) were fantastic. As a native English speaker, Gustavo was perfect for us and provided excellent insight, help, and humor through the entire trip. This is a challenging and beautiful trek, one I encourage any healthy person with a love for nature and culture to undertake. The ruins themselves were much better than I imagined and the native presence there (the Kogi) was truly unbelievable and unexpected (they live everywhere throughout the trekking region). We did the 4 days trek to Ciudad Perdida with Expotur and our guide Gabriel, translator Daniel and cook José, and we loved it. Everybody was allowed to go at his or her own pace, the guide explained a lot of history, plants, culture, etc.and the food was always plenty, varied and really delicious. We arrived really early to Ciudad Perdida and had the place just to our group which was amazing and we even got to meet the Shaman of the Wiwa people still living in the lost city. A huge plus doing the tour with Expotur were also the small size of the groups, the early take off not having to walk behind other groups and the relaxed atmosphere our guide and translator created. We can only highly recommend them! Thanks guys!

We decided to go on this endeavor because of all the great reviews we read about it. It was more exhilarating than what we expected. The trek was 4 days long and we used the company Expotur of Santa Marta to get us to the Lost City. We went at the end of January during the dry season. We were lucky to have an exceptional team of guides: Camacho the lead guide, Daviana the translator, Diego the cook and Jhancarlo the assistant guide. These guides were incredibly organized. Coordinating with each other and providing the best customer service one can get (deep local knowledge of the terrain and the forest, history, traditions and an exquisite sense of humor). One was leading and the other was patiently following. The other two would come to the camp before anybody else and prepare such rich Colombian diners. We would strongly recommend having these guys as your guides. They form the backbone of companies like Expotur and link to the local indigenous communities. The trek was hard for some of us and some uphill were really exhausting, but there are also easy portions and organized stops in the forest where they serve you any kind of fruits as part of the trek. At night we slept in very comfortable bed bunks that had mosquito nets. The Lost City is absolutely beautiful and intriguing but not the only goal. The jungle, the indigenous culture and your physical exercise to get there make the awesomeness of the journey.

I did the Lost City hike with them and can totally recommend this travel agency. Everything was perfectly organised, the whole stuff was friendly, and everybody seemed to go an extra way for us.

A few other travel agencies shared the same itinerary, but I felt like our group got the best service.

I did 4 days hike to the lost city with Daniel, Dennys and Cole team. It was really nice experience and I totally recommend it to everyone interested in adventure and in discovering life of indigenous people.

'll be honest: the trek to the Lost City is tough. But it truly was an unforgettable experience and the absolute highlight of our vacation in Colombia. Expotur is a real professional organisation, we had absolutely no regrets choosing this operator. Our guide Daniel was one of the most experienced of all the guides, with almost 900 (!) visits to the Ciudad Perdida. His explanations of the history, nature and indigenous people were really interesting, and his enthusiasm kept us going all the way. Also kudos for translator José, second guide Samir and cook Eliecer. Together they kept the team spirit high and organized everything perfectly.

As I said, the 4 day trek was tough at times. The heat and humidity makes climbing pretty difficult, and there was much climbing to do. That being said, with a decent level of fitness it is perfectly manageable. Good hiking shoes are a must however, together with a good outfit, mosquito spray and sun spray. The rewards are great. Stunning scenery, some adventurous river crossings, encounters with the indigenous population, and of course the awesome Lost City.

Facilities at camp are basic, but meals are decent. Fresh fruit along the way is also provided. There are also many points along the route where you can buy water or other refreshments.

The beds at camp could be a bit more comfortable and clean, that would be my only complaint.

Other than that, I absolutely recommend doing the 4 day trek to Ciudad Perdida, if you are adventurous enough, and used to some hiking.

Hola! Hice el tour de 4 dias durante el mes de agosto 2019. Fue una hermosa experiencia, que nos puso al limite de todo desde lo fisico y lo mental. Ademas, conoci gente muy copada. Nos cuidaron mucho! Y la pasamos super!

Aquests dies fent el tour hem conviscut amb diferents grups i guies i ens ha semblat que Expotur era l'agència més seriosa i professional. Recomanem altament el nostre guia, en Levi, com també el traductor, en Leo, que varen fer de la caminada una experiència més agradable. Estam contents de com ens varen adaptar l'alimentació i satisfets del tracte rebut.

Exportur Colombia cuenta con una exelente logística para compartir una experiencia inolvidable. Es un viaje que exige alto nivel físico, amor por la naturaleza e interés por la cultura indigena que domina el territorio y verdaderos herederos de "Teyuna'': Lugar sagrado construido por sus ancestros que hoy tenemos el privilegio de visitar con esta maravillosa agencia que cuenta con servicio de traducción para nuestros visitantes internacionales. Recomiendo informarse bien sobre el trayecto ya que no es fácil. Montañas empinadas y clima impredecible. Llevar una maleta ligera, botas de trekking y buena actitud!

Trek de 4 j ciudad perdida bien organisé. Jolis paysages, montées parfois un peu rudes.
Petit bémol, pas spécifique à l’agence je pense: on est un peu trop nombreux, pendant la marche comme aux logements (fait en août 2019)
