Hicimos el recorrido de descenso de barranquismo. Nos divertimos mucho y nos atendieron muy bien. Lo haría de nuevo si estuviera en Minca. ¡Gracias!

After this once in a life time experience, I promised Marilyn and her husband (the owners) I would leave a review of my eperiences for future adventurers:). While this family business can accomodate any request with regards to guides in Minca, I will just talk about mine. The ride up the mountain before dawn to what they call "Cerro Kennedy" which is a viewing spot above the clouds. It is right next to La Cuchillo de San Lorenzo. They call this the cloud forest, but it should also add an adjective for the arrays of colors. Every color you can imagine will explode from the scenery into your iris as if you are in a dream where this amount of visualition cannot be real.
You can hike up to Cerro Kennedy but it takes a whole day (8 hrs they say and 8 hrs back) so if you do that, most people stay at a hostel at the top and walk down the next day.
You can ride on the back of a motobike for one-way or round trip:) for about $15 USD one way or double for round trip, maybe a little less. Now you may feel unsafe but once you do it once and see how professional these guides are who ride their motorcycles here everyday, you can see how honestly they are safer to ride with than you are hiking alone in some cases.
You can rent mountain bikes, but I would say that would be very extreme because we rented motorcycles and had them guide us up the mountain and out of the 4 of us who though we were all expert dirtbike riders from Florida, only myself was able to make the trip both ways by myself on the motorcycle.
Renting motorcycles to follow them up was one of the most amazing experiences of my life at 35 yrs old with 5 wonderful children and an amazing wife. Now after my family memories, I will always quote this adventure as one of my most cherished memories. The trip was VERY difficult, I would NEVER reccomend riding the motorcycle alone unless you are used to extreme trail riding on dirt bikes, not just track riding or street riding. This is over thousands of rocks, hundreds of huge bolders, small rivers, mud that pulls your back tire out from under you even while going straight (I fell 3 times), cliffs, and edges where if you did not apply your brakes properly could be deadly. I would even go as so far to say this ride was easy for me, but BECAUSE I love extreme trail riding so much. Between the 3 of us, we bent and broke shifters and levels that we were more than happy to pay to fix as we were warned many times that riding alone is not for most pople, they are such great people they joked with us that they told us so and they were more than happy to work with us on damages but we made sure to pay a FAIR amount PLUS more so they were as happy as can be for renting to these silly americans who over-estimated their skills:). However.do not be discouraged, please go see this view if you are anywhere near Minca. I only explained the extreme that I did because while I loved it so much and would do it 1,000xs over, I probably wouldn't have let me other 2 friends go, I would have made them get rode on the back with the guides instead of riding alone. The easiest and safest way to get there is to have these wonderful people drive you up on the back of their bikes but you can add your level of adventure from there and it will only make add to the wonderful details. Lastly, if at all able, wake up at the 3 AM they suggest and get there at 5 AM to make sure u see the sunrise.it is life changing.

Después de esta experiencia única en la vida, les prometí a Marilyn y a su esposo (los propietarios) que dejaría una reseña de mis experiencias para futuros aventureros:). Si bien este negocio familiar puede atender cualquier solicitud con respecto a guías en Minca, solo hablaré de la mía. Subiremos a la montaña antes del amanecer hasta lo que llaman "Cerro Kennedy", que es un punto de observación por encima de las nubes. Está justo al lado de La Cuchillo de San Lorenzo. A esto lo llaman bosque nuboso, pero también habría que añadir un adjetivo a la variedad de colores. Cada color que puedas imaginar explotará desde el paisaje hacia tu iris como si estuvieras en un sueño donde esta cantidad de visualización no puede ser real.
Puedes caminar hasta Cerro Kennedy pero toma un día entero (8 horas dicen y 8 horas de regreso), así que si haces eso, la mayoría de las personas se quedan en un albergue en la cima y caminan hacia abajo al día siguiente.
Puedes viajar en la parte trasera de una moto para un viaje de ida o de ida y vuelta:) por unos $15 USD por trayecto o el doble para un viaje de ida y vuelta, tal vez un poco menos. Ahora puede que te sientas inseguro, pero una vez que lo hagas una vez y veas cuán profesionales son estos guías que viajan en motocicleta aquí todos los días, podrás ver cuán honestamente es más seguro viajar con ellos que caminar solo en algunos casos.
Puedes alquilar bicicletas de montaña, pero yo diría que eso sería muy extremo porque alquilamos motocicletas y les pedimos que nos guiaran montaña arriba y de nosotros 4, aunque todos éramos expertos motociclistas de Florida, solo yo pude Hacer el viaje de ida y vuelta yo solo en la moto.
Alquilar motocicletas para seguirlos fue una de las experiencias más increíbles de mi vida a los 35 años, con 5 hijos maravillosos y una esposa increíble. Ahora, después de mis recuerdos familiares, siempre citaré esta aventura como uno de mis recuerdos más preciados. El viaje fue MUY difícil, NUNCA recomendaría conducir la motocicleta solo a menos que esté acostumbrado a andar en senderos extremos en motos de cross, no solo a andar en pista o en la calle. Esto se trata de miles de rocas, cientos de enormes rocas, pequeños ríos, barro que arranca la llanta trasera incluso mientras vas recto (me caí 3 veces), acantilados y bordes donde, si no aplicabas los frenos correctamente, podrías ser mortal. Incluso me atrevería a decir que este recorrido fue fácil para mí, pero PORQUE me encantan los senderos extremos. Entre nosotros tres, doblamos y rompimos palancas de cambio y niveles que estábamos más que felices de pagar para arreglar, ya que nos advirtieron muchas veces que andar solos no es para la mayoría de las personas, son personas tan geniales que bromearon con nosotros y nos dijeron. Nosotros lo hicimos y estuvieron más que felices de trabajar con nosotros en los daños, pero nos aseguramos de pagar una cantidad JUSTA MÁS más para que estuvieran lo más felices posible de alquilarles a estos tontos estadounidenses que sobreestimaron sus habilidades:). Sin embargo.no te desanimes, ve a ver esta vista si estás cerca de Minca. Solo le expliqué el extremo que hice porque, si bien me encantó y lo haría 1000 veces más, probablemente no me habría dejado ir a mis otros 2 amigos, en su lugar los habría hecho montar en la espalda con los guías.de montar solo. La forma más fácil y segura de llegar allí es hacer que estas maravillosas personas te lleven en la parte trasera de sus bicicletas, pero puedes agregar tu nivel de aventura desde allí y eso solo aumentará los maravillosos detalles. Por último, si es posible, levántate a las 3 a.m. Que te sugieren y llega a las 5 a.m. Para asegurarte de ver el amanecer.te cambia la vida.

The attention and kindness of Luis and his team are amazing. We went to cerro Kennedy, dropped down to santa marta, went down hill by an amazing clear water river.all from Minca and all in an easy and enjoyable manner thanks to them

We Rent 2 Bikes, the 2 Bikes were not well adjusted: problems of shifting gears and the other had a too long chain leading to Block the pedals. In addition, we had almost no info about the conditions of the field leading to a frightening experience. To finish, the rental Bike company which is at this place is not minca Bikes contact them only by whatsapp.

We took the mountain bike tour. It was really nice and the guide was great too. However, the level was really hard. It is uphill for 11 km in the heat. I am quite fit but wasn’t able to do it. I think if they coach the customers more on the level of difficulty before going on the trip it would be even more enjoyable. Would 100% recommend it for people who mountain bike often.

Had a great mountainbike tour with these guys! Good bikes and the possibility to include also a visit the coffee farm and other sights on the tour. The downhill part from Los Pinos is an amazing experience on a mountainbike, highly recommended!

Great experience, definitly a must do while you are in minca. Watching the peaks of the Sierra Nevada on top of Mount Kenny at 6 am and then biking down was one of the highlights! Friendly people and great service.
