Diving Tayrona reefs and shipwrecks for scuba instruction is the best way to get certified! Highly recommend!

I have been here with a friend to make the padi open water certification. The place looked nice and the receptionist was very friendly so we decided to do it with them. We were a bit confused when she told us that that the course would be carried on at "20-30 meters under" but we imagined she might be just confused. The first day instead of confined waters we went directly to the sea. Excited by the idea we didn't mind. We took a boat and after a very short (maximum 5 minutes) explanation the divemaster was hurrying us to quickly get into the water without even checking the equipment or showing us what was what and were. Once in the water we felt a bit unconfortable and since the exercises started at a considerable depth (not just under the surface, we already had to compensate). I felt the need of going a bit slower with the training. Although I emerged twice and tried to express my discomfort i felt quite pressured and was not really given time to adapt to the whole situation. At some point i decided to interrupt the sessiom since we judged the situation a bit dangerous. My buddy continued for the second session but was also of the idea that we werent very safe so he also stopped.on the first time in his life he ever touched diving gear he was brought down to 15 meters without even being told how to properly communicate, react or breath. The second session he did was under 20, even if open water shouldnt ever get under 18. We will probably do the certification with another school where they take the time to explain you and show you the gear and answer all questions and doubts without hurrying and telling the students to be quick.

El mejor buceo en el Tayrona y en el Morro de Santa Marta. Instructores pro y muy buena atención (equipos, lancha de lujo, refrigerios)! 5 estrellas plenas!

Diving was nice, little bit cold water 20C. My friend got really freezed in 3mm wetsuit Second dive our instruction take us to very strong current! Not safe at ALL! My friend last dive was 4years ago and I was beginner. He was going very fast with us - not time to enjoy corals and I never want experience so strong current! My opinion he try to be fast make money and leave! And they said lunch excluded - that's mean banana and small cracker +sweet water. (lunch for 0,50$). Is nice place to dive but I will choose different company:)

Volveremos.

The dive instructor did not assign diving buddies. Big error and dangerous. I got dragged away by a strong current and resurfaced quite far out all by myself. Did they follow protocol and search for a minute and surface. No. They continued with the group dive. Luckily a fisherman spotted me and got the attention of the dive boat which came and rescued me. 15 minutes later the rest of the group came to the boat. The dive instructors only words were. “You should have stayed with the group”. Anyone who dives currents in tyrona knows how strong they are and sometimes you will have no choice but to go with the current until it subsides. Lucky i had the experience to stay calm, complete a short safety stop as i’d spent time at 70 feet and then safely resurfaced to attract attention. I have this all on my gopro video if anyone tries to dispute this. Including the rescue. I gave 3 stars because on my second dive i went with a different instructor called juan manuel jimenez who was fun to dive with. So despite the rules not being followed i would dive with them again but not with the original instructor who i will not name.

Rental equipment for dives different than ordered and agreed on at the shop with owner. Guides on the boat had no idea, so it seems there is not much communication going on between the dude selling at the shop and the actual dive guides on board. The higher price this shop asked it not reasonable compared to other shops in Santa Marta. Things were not very organized which leaves you with a not so good feeling. When we asked for equipment fitting BEFORE departing the marina, it was all problematic. Diving was good though, boat good and guides as well. Still wouldn't choose them again due to wrong equipment delivered which is quite important.
